[142]Kameido Katori Shrine (Kameido Katori Jinja)

Description

  • It is said that its origins date back to 665, when Fujiwara Kamatari prayed for a safe journey on his journey. Afterwards, Fujiwara Hidesato prayed for victory in battle, which was fulfilled, and since then, successive emperors and many other Worshiped by military commanders.
  • Currently, many people visit to pray for victory in sports tournaments and matches as the god of sports promotion.
  • Goshuin stamps are also sold. (reception hours: 9:00~12:00, 13:30~17:00)

There are three entrances: Shinjuku Gate, Okido Gate, and Sendagaya Gate. Regardless of the entrance, you will have to walk 5 to 10 minutes from the nearest station.
In the case of Shinjuku Gate, the nearest station is Shinjuku Gyoenmae Station (Metro Marunouchi Line), but you can also walk from Shinjuku Sanchome Station (Metro Marunouchi Line / Metro Fukutoshin Line / Toei Shinjuku Line) or Shinjuku Station Southeast Exit.
The closest station to Okido Gate is Shinjuku Gyoemmae Station (Metro Marunouchi Line) too, and there are no other suitable stations.
As the name suggests, the closest station to Sendagaya Gate is Sendagaya Station (JR Sobu Line), but it is also possible to walk from Yoyogi Station (JR Yamanote Line / JR Sobu Line).
