[59]Akihabara Electric Town (Akihabara Denki-gai)

Description

Akihabara Denki-gai

Akihabara Electric Town originates from the concentration of electrical wholesalers in Akihabara after the war. Some stores also served as retail stores, and because they sold at lower prices than other stores, word of mouth made the area popular as an electronics town.

After that, the number of stores that carried computer-related products increased, and the number of stores related to anime and games, which had a similar customer base, also increased.

Nowadays, there are more shops and concept cafes that sell used smartphones, making it a diverse town.

There are still stores that can only be found in Akihabara, such as stores with large collections of Gashapon, but I still feel that the city has become a half-hearted place compared to before.

There is almost no trace of Electric Town, and when it comes to anime shops, Animate in Ikebukuro and Mandarake in Nakano have a much better selection.
